Terms

Terms of Service.

Last updated May 27, 2026

Using JuanScan means agreeing to these terms. They're short. They're plain English. We tried to write them the way we'd want to read them.

The app

JuanScan is a free iOS application that lets you scan and store documents on your iPhone. Everything happens on your device. We provide the software; you provide the iPhone, the documents, and the PIN.

What you own

Every document, image, and piece of text you scan with JuanScan belongs to you. We claim no ownership of, and no license to, your content. We also have no copy of it — see the Privacy Policy.

What we don't promise

JuanScan is provided "as is." We work hard to make it reliable, but we don't guarantee it will be error-free or available at all times. OCR can misread text. Classification can pick the wrong drawer. Renewal reminders can fail to fire if iOS denies notification permission or wipes scheduled notifications during a restore.

We strongly recommend keeping the original paper documents as the source of truth. JuanScan is a search index over your wallet — not a replacement for the wallet itself.

Your responsibilities

  • Remember your PIN. There is no recovery — the encryption is real, and the key is derived from the PIN. If you forget it, the "Forgot PIN? Reset" path wipes the vault.
  • Don't use JuanScan to store other people's documents without their permission.
  • Don't try to extract, reverse-engineer, or attack the encryption — not because it's prohibited (it is), but because we built JuanScan to protect Filipinos from breach, and breaking the model breaks the protection.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when we ship significant new features. When we do, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page changes and we'll mention the change in the next app update's release notes.
